What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice I’ve ever received was simple: “Love is in the details.”

At first, I thought it only applied to relationships with people, but over time I realized it’s the foundation of being a good pawrent too. It’s in the small, intentional choices—taking the time to learn what your pup really needs, paying attention to their nutrition, training with patience instead of frustration, and creating rituals that make them feel safe and loved.

That wisdom shaped both of my books. Pawrenting Guide for the New Pawrent is built on the belief that those little details—consistency, structure, and understanding—create a lifelong bond. And Cooking for Your Pup is really just another love letter, showing how the simple act of preparing healthy, homemade meals can become one of the most joyful ways to care.

So, yes, the best advice I ever got was: Love is in the details. And my journey as a pawrent (and as a writer) has been about passing that love forward, one wagging tail and one recipe at a time.
